Dig! The Leeds Jazz Underground (Feature Documentary 2025).

The early 1990s, Four ‘ordinary joes’ arrive in Leeds, Yorkshire, helping to turn this small city into the cultural epicentre of England. The legendary DJ collective The Dig! Family dominated the club scene for over a decade, launching a new generation of artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae and The Haggis Horns. Using contemporary interviews and archive footage - in the aftermath of Covid-19 lockdown - we recall how people can re-invent themselves as they struggle to overcome adversity and rebuild their community.

Old Men and the Sea (short film)

Old Men and the Sea (short film)

Bradford City Sea Anglers Club annual fishing trip to The Wild Atlantic Way off the coast of County Donegal in Ireland. As club members grow old and contemplate the future they reflect on dwindling numbers. Anglers engage in ‘catch and return’ sport: preparing for travel, negotiating with predatory nature (gulls, dolphins and ‘fish that eat other fish’), heroic battling with the ‘catch' until finally placing the fish gently in the water and letting it swim away. Explored through the eyes of the filmmaker’s father, Brian Clarkson as he leads the other fishermen and recounts the origins of the club, hemmed in ‘land-locked’ Bradford, West Yorkshire seeking solace in the freedom of the sea in rural Ireland. These ‘old men and the sea’ will one day part. He will organise one last trip: to facilitate friendship, ‘male-bonding’ and the promotion of mental well being - living at one with nature.
